Video game scores will be honoured at the Grammy Awards

The Grammy Awards is the most important ceremonies of the music industry, and it has decided to branch out to other fields with the introduction of a category dedicated to video games.

In the past, some video game scores were showcased at the event. For instance, “Baba Yetu” made by Christopher Tin for “Civilization IV” received the “Best Arrangement” prize in 2011. Still, no dedicated category was established. This, however, is about to change.

The “Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games” is one of the five new categories added to the ceremony and it will be featured at the 65th edition of the Grammy Awards in 2023. According to Harvey Mason Jr, the president of the Recording Academy, this prize aims at celebrating the vast spectrum of the music industry.
