Gamers could popularise the metaverse

The metaverse is still in development, even if major corporations already see it as the new playground for younger generations. Teenagers, however, does not seem interested in this virtual world.

According to a study done by investment bank Piper Sandler, most American teens are unsure about the metaverse, with only 9% of those surveyed saying that they intend to buy a virtual headset in the near future.

Still, all hope is not lost. With 68% of teenagers describing themselves as gamers, it is possible that tech companies will turn towards gaming to promote their virtual worlds. In “Fortnite”, for instance, players have been able to attend concerts by A-listers like Ariana Grande and Travis Scott. With the highly immersive possibilities of a VR headset, teenagers might be able to better enjoy these experiences.
