Apple and Epic Games have an ongoing dispute regarding app sales

Apple has recently refused to reinstate “Fortnite” to its South Korean App Store despite a new Seoul anti-monopoly law, thus escalating an ongoing dispute with game developer Epic Games.

For several months now, Apple and Epic Games have been fighting over how revenues should be divided on delivery platforms. This action resulted from the tech giant’s decision to remove “Fortnite” from its store following the game developer’s introduction of direct payment through the video game.

Both Apple and Google have faced global criticism for charging up to 30% commission on app sales. As such, South Korea’s new law which bans tech companies from forcing developers to use their payment systems should end the monopoly of the two groups.
