Netflix is allegedly considering a subscription-based gaming service

Netflix is reportedly on the hunt for a senior executive to lead a push into the video game industry. The tech giant could be looking at developing a new subscription-based service.

It appears that Netflix has already spoken to several industry veterans and wishes to create a service similar to Apple Arcade. The latter gives subscribers an unlimited access to a selection of video games.

It is still too early to speculate about the format of Netflix’s new project. However, as the global gaming market is exceeding $300 billion, it is an interesting move for the California-based company.

Over the past couple of years, Netflix has continually expanded its offerings notably with interactive shows like “Bandersnatch” and “You v. Wild”. As such, it is not a far-fetched idea that the tech giant is deciding to expand its catalogue.
