A gaming experience is positive for one’s mental health

Video games are often labelled as having negative effects on health. However, according to a new study by Oxford University, researchers have shown that gaming titles can improve psychological well-being.

Following the global lockdowns due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the video game industry has experienced a surge. As such, this study comes at a timely moment.

Researchers have been looking at the playing time provided by Electronic Arts and Nintendo. Furthermore, they have analysed gamer behaviour for two of the world’s most popular franchises namely “Plants Vs Zombies: The Battle for Neighborville” and “Animal Crossing: New Horizons”.

According to the researchers from Oxford University, it is the experience felt by gamers while playing that has proven to have a positive impact on mental health.
