DeepWell Therapeutics wants to improve the mental health of gamers

Start-up DeepWell Therapeutics is aiming to combine video games and medicine in order to create projects that are both entertaining and therapeutic for players. These franchises are expected to come out in 2023.

What if video games could improve the mental health of gamers? Mike Wilson, the co-founder of Devolver Digital and Ryan Douglas, founder and former CEO of medical device company Nexter, are betting that it is possible with the launch of DeepWell Therapeutics. The company is dedicated to creating gameplay that can simultaneously entertain and accelerate treatment for different health conditions.

Even if video games have long been criticized for being violent, they can actually provide a health solution. DeepWell Therapeutics is currently working on a video game that is designed to treat depression, hypertension and mild anxiety. Time will tell whether this project will improve the life of gamers.
