Tencent wants to add 20 games to the Switch’s roster

The Chinese internet giant, Tencent, and Nintendo have announced their plans to bring the new Switch console to China.

Bringing their latest system to the world’s largest game markets has helped to push Nintendo’s share price this year. As such, establishing itself in China was inevitable.

The launch event for the Switch was held in Shanghai. Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of popular franchises like “Donkey Kong” is happy that Nintendo’s games and entertainment can finally reach Chinese players.

The partnership between Nintendo and Tencent was revealed earlier this year. The Chinese tech company has also stated that it will work to “enrich” the console’s line-up with up to 20 games in 2020.

The arrival of the Nintendo Switch on the Chinese gaming market is a bold move. Indeed, the country has faced a decade-long ban on consoles to protect children from the negative impact of gaming. This embargo only ended in 2014.
