Ubisoft explores the possibilities of AI in gaming

AI poised to 'transform' gaming despite high costs

In a candid interview with AFP, Ubisoft's CEO highlighted the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in the gaming industry, while cautioning about its substantial financial implications.

Indeed, in a recent interview with AFP, the CEO of Ubisoft, a prominent figure in the French gaming industry, underscored the transformative potential of generative AI in reshaping both the creation and consumption of video games. However, he also highlighted the considerable financial hurdles associated with adopting this cutting-edge technology.

Emphasizing the transformative impact of Gen AI, Yves Guillemot expressed excitement about how this technology could breathe new life into game environments, making them feel more dynamic and vibrant than ever before. By leveraging AI-driven processes, developers could potentially create richer, more interactive worlds within games like "Assassin's Creed", offering players unprecedented levels of realism and engagement.

However, even though Guillemot acknowledged the significant potential of generative AI to enhance gaming experiences, he cautioned about the high computational demands and associated costs. Speaking at the event in Los Angeles, he pointed out that while AI could revolutionize games by making them more dynamic and immersive, the financial implications are a critical consideration.
