AI revolution in the video game industry: various changes are taking place

At Gamescom, one of the video game industry's largest events, artificial intelligence takes the spotlight. AI thus plays a central role, from crafting storylines and coding entire games to transforming concepts into animations.

The AI revolution in the video game industry has players proceeding with caution. Even within the highly interconnected gaming industry, there's a sense of cautiousness surrounding this innovation. Concerns are on the rise, with apprehensions about potential job displacement and the possibility of AI overshadowing artistic creations.

As a reminder, AI's capabilities extend to the instantaneous generation of illustrations from text, enabling producers to effectively convey their creative vision, as highlighted by Julien Millet, an AI engineer and founder of United Bits Game studio. Developers can thus explore various applications of AI, including responsive non-playable characters and the automated generation of images, code, and game scenarios.

Nevertheless, AI-generated images have the potential to pose a challenge to the work of concept artists, who traditionally envision the video game world before its digital creation. It is also important to note that the utilization of AI to craft expansive virtual realms may clash with assertions of intellectual property rights over the original images employed in their creation.
