A “PUBG Mobile” tournament was recently held in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia was recently the main stage of a major “PUBG Mobile” tournament, with players from eight different countries competing for a chance to win huge cash prizes.

This “PUBG Mobile” event was part of Gamers8, a summer festival aimed at showcasing Saudi Arabia as an emerging esport powerhouse. In recent years, the world’s biggest oil exporter has invested heavily in competitive gaming, even acquiring popular teams and organising huge conferences.

The country’s interest in gaming appears to come from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman who is said to be a big fan of “Call of Duty”. Furthermore, about two thirds of the population consider themselves gamers. With time, the country hopes it will be able to rival China and South Korea in esports.
