Discord is testing new features

For over six years, Discord has provided gamers with a place to chat. Now, the online service is working on new ways to attract more people to the app.

When it was launched in 2015, Discord was seen as a discussion tool for fans of video games. However, with the onset of the global Covid-19 pandemic, things have evolved and an increasing number of people rely on remote voice chats to study, work and communicate with family members and friends.

In order to continue to grow and satisfy its community, the American company is examining new formats while remaining true to the random, unpredictable Discord that its users value.

Recently, Discord unveiled “Stage Channels” which provide a way for large communities to host parties, audio events and live panels. This feature will let people explore the events without having to enter or leave the servers.

In adding new upgrades to Discord, the company is asserting that it is no longer only aimed at the gaming community but to all the enthusiasts of these new communication tools.
