‘Assassin's Creed Nexus VR’ allows players to embody legendary protagonists

Ubisoft has announced that a virtual reality version of its popular ‘Assassin's Creed’ franchise, called ‘Assassin's Creed Nexus VR’ will be released by the end of the year.

Players will assume the roles of previous franchise protagonists, equipped with hidden wrist blades, engaging in parkour escapes, and performing the iconic ‘leap of faith’ from tall structures. The game's senior creative director, David Votypka, stated that experiencing the life of a master assassin in VR will be a major attraction for players, as it complements the immersive nature of virtual reality.

Ubisoft has made efforts to ensure player comfort, incorporating teleportation features to mitigate disorientation and nausea. The violence in assassination scenes has been toned down, aiming for a balance between video game violence and realistic portrayals.

The game will be compatible with Meta's latest VR headsets, and it will offer a full-fledged Assassin's Creed experience in virtual reality. Ubisoft also showcased ‘Assassin's Creed Mirage’, a new addition to the franchise set in ninth-century Baghdad, as well as a free-to-play mobile game titled ‘Codename Jade’ set in China's Qin Dynasty.
